So I'm finally installing my Newly built big in big out wide ratio top loader in my station wagon and I decided to check the clutch (Centerforce Dual Friction) and pilot bushing while I was that far into it. Lots of wear on both. I was never really happy with the clutch anyway so I want to try the RAM 98988 3 finger clutch ($599.00 on Amazon). Has anyone tried it out? Any reviews?

I used this clutch a couple times. Both times I rebuilt the clutch pedal assembly with a kit from Mustang Steve to use roller bearings and a new clutch / brake pedal shaft, and an NOS Z - Bar. I thought it worked well.

I'm gonna give it a try. I ordered the clutch, pilot bushing & the pedal roller conversion.

Well, I finally got the transmission installed and installed the roller bearings in the clutch pedal. I also had bronze bushings made for the clutch pedal to Z bar rod. Unfortunately, the clutch I ordered; RAM 98988 does not fit a stock 428 flywheel. The pressure plate is too small. The disk was correct. I ended up getting a new clutch disk for my CenterForce dual friction clutch. All I can say is Wow, what a difference! The car gets on the cam much quicker; the car barks the tires really nice on the 1/2 shift, and I can now dump the clutch and roast the rear tires. Something the car wouldn't do since I took the 4.11s out and put 3.50s in. This is a 4300-pound station wagon with me in it! It would just slip the clutch even when the clutch was new. Highly recommended for cars with tall gearing! The only thing I haven't done yet is install the clutch pedal spring under the dash. Any suggestions on how to install it? I have the dashboard out. Pulling it with a hook is not happening! I was thinking of making some kind of puller off the steering column brace. I'm assuming Ford installed the pedal assembly fully assembled before the steeling column was installed. The clutch isn't really that hard to press down but was definitely easier with the spring installed.
