I think the car you are looking at, according to the Hemmings link you provided is 5S391. What is SMF482? Liscense plate?

The latest car (by serial number) I have ever owned and observed (in person) having trunk mount battery from the factory was 5S327. There might have been later cars, that is just the latest I have noted.
391 would be a front battery car.
