I can click on anything here on the SAAC forum and it takes forever for the page to show!! The little twirling circle just keeps twirling!!
I don't have trouble any where else on any other forum or any where on the web for that fact except for here on the SAAC forum.
Is this happening to anyone else?

Me too at times.
Me also. Sometimes a few seconds, other times a few minutes.
I notice it depends on how many new posts and the quantity of photos. If there is more to download, it takes a bit longer.

Glad it got brought up so it can be addressed.

No, because I've got super fast high speed internet service. Like I mentioned, It only happens here. Gets annoying!!
I'm having the same problem, when I log in it takes a long time, for me this thread is really slow, but the others like, events..store etc. come up quick. when I post a message or try to log out it's also slow.

Site navigation has been very, very slow with new forum. Just received "Internal Server Error" message also.
Craig R
It appears to still have many bugs to work out..... Super slow the real question is how many will not return? Sad really we live in a world where ease of navigation is utmost. There are so very few already we don't want to shrink the SHELBY community any more then we have to! Time will tell if it all works out. :'(
Same problem for me, slow or getting the "internal server error" message.
YA me too.
..and why does it take so long to get a pizza delivered. I mean really , how hard is it to make a friggin' za.
I also hate having to wait in line at Costco cause they won't open up the other 9 registers.
DOESN'T ANYONE UNDERSTAND HOW IMPORTANT MY TIME IS!!!

But don't you live like 50 miles from the north friggin pole?? ;D
There is actually an upside for me. I can get a little work done while I wait for the page to load!
I have an idea....
I guess the real question is:
1. Is the site being worked on behind the scenes and that is creating a slow site
2. There are many people at one time uploading information that was saved elsewhere and is slowing things down.
3. The new site software does not have the performance of the old software and the speed is what it is.
I know I was trying to upload some images to my picture gallery over the last few days and have given up trying due to the performance issues.
patience grasshoppers, patience.....
A lot slower for me too. But, I guess patience is in order!!!

YUP, GOOD!!!!!
Is the server still on dial-up? :-\
I haven't frequented a site with so much trouble in nearly 15 years
Freezing and crashing events seem to have increasing daily (my experience). I am guessing this is due to increased daily usage and picture uploading. It took 3 attempts to today to even access the site. If there is a separate fund to contribute to support of the Forum, you can count me in. 95% of info I've gained to support my GT350 has come from the Forum and it's generous contributors and Coralsnake and his Coralsnake's website.
FYI-My first attempt to post this crashed
Jim
I am open to paying a support fee. But it it better run like a Swiss watch. Not the kind you find at the street vendor in Tijuana.

These are server issues. It would appear that the program was just reloaded onto the old junk server?
DO NOT rely on this website to store any important information. Back up what you need on your own computer.
This thing is just going to crash again and probably melt.
The Forum needs a new server and simply put, no one wants to pay for one.
As more data is loaded into it, the situation is just going to get worse. Before it was just with picture uploads. Now it is with all data.
Just a warning to everyone.

Actually, it is worse than that.
Not sure what you all are referring to. Site works ok for me but I have a fiber link and live in Canada.

Like someone on here earlier in this thread mentioned, "this is the computer age and we want things to happen right away at our finger tips and thats the way it should be in this time of the cyber space era. If this was 10 yrs ago, 5 minutes wouldn't be nothing.

10? You meant 20, right?
I think that is mis-interpretation of the facts? If it was 10 years ago the technology would only allow it to load in 5 minutes.
Now that means there is something wrong with the equipment.
The way this server is wobbling around between ok and crashing again shows it is on it's last legs or maybe just being propped up on it's last legs momentarily?
I think ultimately we, yes me included, are going to have to contribute to a Pitcrew Paypal account for donations to pay for a new server? That may be the only way to fix these issues, i.e., a new server or rent or lease a server monthly?
I seem to remember having a discussion with Ron about 10 years ago and he said a new server was about $18,000, and basically no one wanted or maybe more correctly no one could pay for it at the time?
Anyway anyone looks at this, this forum HAS become the lifeblood of the minute to minute existence of this "club" and it clearly needs it to survive even in the near future. This server issue needs to be remedied?
Any suggestions? I have a roll of quarters I can contribute right now? I'm going to need to keep the dimes and nickels for gas money. I might have more next month when I vacuum out the car? :)

$18,000 is a lot of money for one person, but divided up it might be manageable. If 180 people chip in $100 apiece we're there. I'm in for that amount if that's what it takes to get this forum speeded up and reliable. Now all we need are 179 more members to step up to that level. Or even fewer contributors of someone with deep pockets is willing to go a little higher.
But before we get too far along this path we need to find out for certain if a new server is the solution, and exactly what that would cost. Anyone know the answer to those two questions?
Steve

Which brings the question: How is the Forum currently funded? It's gotta cost something to keep this going and, this time, we need to be assured that there will be adequate back-up. Perhaps we need to have a "Charter" or "Premium" membership with adequate acknowledgment given.

Well IF the financial part is the problem, then this is worth some discussion. There are lots of us here that enjoy, promote or do business on and have some kind of vested interest in seeing this forum AND SAAC flourish now and in the future.
It is a way of finding new blood, making new acquaintances and mending old fences.
There have been questions about how SAAC will or can continue into the future and the forum is too valuable of a tool to let go by the waste side and fade into oblivion.
One way of attracting new blood and carrying on what is apparently an infection of passion with Shelby's cars is with this forum. There are hundreds if not thousands that stumble upon it casually and eventually come away with an undeniable if not inexplicable interest in these cars.
All Ron needs to do is create a PayPal account where donations could be sent. You don't need to contribute a fortune, just what you can, anonymously.
There are lots of us who disagree here on relatively petty points but one thing that we all agree upon is wanting to see the interest on these cars continue well past our own lives.
It MIGHT be a time to consider taking advertising here as well?
Like I said, it's worthy of a discussion and consideration?

I recently offered to contribute funding for the forum. If there others out there will to contribute then perhaps now is the time to figure out the process. I am not rich by any standard but I know how expensive the IT segment can be and would be will to contribute. I think it is even a write off for my business. I would like to see the forum mirrored so this could never happen again, but that cost money. Would someone here be willing to setup a go fund me page to get the ball rolling?
Chris
Sporadic donations probably won't add up to much.
If not part of every member's dues, then having tiered membership might make it a more consistent form of financial support.
Something like
Silver $50 gets you the current membership benefits, for-sale posts are $5 or $10
Gold $75 gets you all silver benefits plus limited P/M's & free for-sale posts.
Platinum $100 gets you all the above plus unlimited P/M's, gallery pics and access to the lounge
Or something like this

Some on here may just not understand the magnitude of what was lost because they use this forum as a form of chatting, talking about just "Stuff", why do you all think that the lounge has the most post and threads of any other area?
When I first came on board as a member, I could not believe the knowledge and expertise here and figured this is amazing, the stuff you guys know and
ALL the threads of information that you guys generated and researched. This forum is truly the BIBLE of 1st generation Shelbys. Simply put.....AMAZING!!!

This forum IS NOT owned by SAAC. It is independently owned and SAAC membership fees do no contribute to it's running.
It was created after Shelby blindsided SAAC with a lawsuit claiming intellectual ownership of the SAAC Registry by Shelby himself. It was created to provide a means of support to SAAC in that suit.
I'm all for contributing but I would like to know how additional funds will help the Forum? Although somewhat improved, what is the technical problem with response time? Will money solve the problem? Will money help with a reliable back-up?

I never said a word about SAAC ownership, read my post again!! I stated it should've never happened because of the superb content and all the research over all the years. We all know this ShelbyDoug LOL, shouldn't have to keep rehashing about who owns what, or who does what, etc, etc,,,,
And I am talking about paying dues to the forum, as what is being discussed on this thread.
Every ones opinions on this subject are correct. Lets look at the similarities from the very beginning, OL Shel builds some of the coolest cars ever developed, then HE develops a heart condition. What to do now? He starts the Shelby heart foundation and fortunes roll in from the goodness of everyones hearts and check books, those that could did donate and not only did he get a new ticker but he had a few extra coins in his pocket to have a very nice life for the next 30 years or so whos counting where the money is going anyways right? The only true means of the glue, that holds the VERY FEW of us together is this forum. Years and years of collecting info on the cars and all of us is literally flushed down the toilet with no backup. Comparison- (Shelbys heart going bad) how to fix it -Donations There are always those that can and will come to the rescue financially and any other means necessary to help, it doesn't mean that others are any less sympathetic to the cause just doesn't mean they should be penalized because they didn't get their I DONATED buttons! The key here is to hold onto the people that love these cars dearly and to promote further excitement of the cars. If financial membership is required for enthusiasm and enjoyment we will lose the fan base, its on a slippery slope right now and we live in a world that has healthy distrust so now it is time to shore up its inadequacies. Just one mans opinions-
Donations will never supply the consistency needed. Even a huge up-front lump sum will just get burned up.
Just because you have memberships doesn't mean non-members can't access the forum (with exceptions of lounge and member privileges).
You can even let non-members post, just no privileges like posting in the for-sale section.
This method is not new. It is exactly what is done on nearly every forum I have been on in the 20 years I have been on the internet.
Last, if the site is to remain privately owned, but appearing and acting like an officially sanctioned SAAC site, then a contractual agreement needs to be agreed upon and certain expectations and responsibilities need to be spelled out.
And both sides held accountable.
Relax... the issue is known.
We are working on it.
Thanks
Ron
