The Lounge / Mustang Monthly no more

Was recently notified that Mustang Monthly and Musclecar Review have seen their last printed issue. Have been a subscriber to both for 30+ years. No desire to go to their online version.

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Re: 66 Hood: What is this one?

Bob, the hood in question is 66/65.  What I understand you saying is there are three basic types of hoods from SAI for 65/66:   port hole fiberglass,  frameless fiberglass, and steel framed.  Thanks.

There was also an all steel hood in '66.

Jim, does the hood pin kit include the click pins? Is it for both sides? Would this be the same for a '66 Shelby?

Thought it should be mentioned so you can correct the ad - 70's didn't use that version of the styled steel wheels. They had 5 windows and were not chromed

Actually they had hubcaps. Bought a new 70 CJ Drag pack in oct 69.

Hubcaps and styled steel wheels were both available in '70.

Anyone know why the engine is painted blue.  Did he rebuild the engine?

The original owner, John M. ordered the car at Mutual Ford in '65 and picked it up in April 1966.  He was a young, highly trained and skilled mechanic in Ford dealerships, just out of the service.  At the time of purchase, he could not afford the R code.  In 1968, he had saved enough money to order directly from Shelby through an authorized dealer the high performance Valley Heads, 11:1 pistons, Deves rings etc. Did it at the dealership where he worked after hours.  When done, he said "we didn't think anything, there were gallons for Ford blue, we just painted it."   All the parts used in 1968 on the engine, the actual receipts with part numbers are included in the documentation. I cross reference the part numbers on the receipts with the actual catalogs looked at in 1968.   Hope that helps answer the blue paint question.  The spoiler was the actual Barry Plastiglas option ordered through Shelby as well.  The wheels are the 1968 Boss Magnums, John M. thought girls liked the shiney wheel look. or so he told me.

No Bosses in '68 ;)

I thought the stripes were supposed to be narrow at the front and wider at the back - this one looks the opposite.

While I no longer have the car ( sold it Orlando Mustang in 1988), GT 500 #1865 had smooth seats. Of course, I was not the original owner.

'This beautiful GT350 has had a 5-year complete nut and bolt comprehensive rotisserie restoration to ISCA Concours level, that has been documented with photos throughout the process. Restoration was completed in  March 2019.'

What is the ISCA?

International Show Car Association is one acronym - I think they used to put on the World of Wheels shows.

Isn't this the top style for '65s? Looks a lot different than the one shown...

NO - porcelin signs were from an earlier time. By the 60s it was silk screen on plastic.

Here is a date code on a porcelain Texaco Fire Chief pump sign:

Sorry, I know that is not completely true as I have several original Gulf, Sinclair, Pure, and American porcelain oil pump signs from the '60s.

I guess I should have refined my question - was this style with this particular logo ever available from Shelby "back in the day"? When did the "TM" (TradeMark) come into use?
