Barn Find = Needs more money thrown at it than it's worth to anyone that's sane
Matching numbers = The V. I. N. matches the title. Aaaaah, but does it match the car?
100% Original and restored = huh ?
Great floors = ridiculous amounts of undercoat have been applied to the under carriage
Investment grade = If you buy it for this price, your grade is....vroooom "F".
A 1 of 1 car = OK, so there were thousands of these made, but this is the only brown monkey crap mustard colored, bench seat, three on the tree and radio delete car we have with its unique V. I. N.

When I think of all the baseball cards I ruined and the cars I ruined back in the day it boggles my mind. Who would have ever thought that Baseball cards and old cars would bring 10s of thousands of dollars, and old cars would bring 100s of thousands of dollars. Woulda been a little more careful, but then again I would not have had nearly as much fun coming up with ways to entertain myself with cars and cards. ;D

We call those RUST BOXES...
Completely documented = Reproduction owner's manual included plus other finely forged and aged documentations....
All original except paint=oxymoron
Accurately restored with NOS parts=parts by Pookie. ::)
Less than XXXX miles on the odometer = since it seized up the last time or we rolled it back with a power drill
Exceptionally original = we threw dirt on it
I always like "xxx, xxx original miles"...as if there is such a thing as "reproduction miles"?
"SURVIVOR"
"RESTORED"
"DRIVER"
"EZ FIX"
"The paint is dull, but I like it that way"
"The paint is dull, I figured I would let the next guy decide what he wants to do with it"
TRANSLATION on the last two, I bought this Shelby years ago for $8000.00, I was too lazy to care about it, and just want to make the big bucks, thank you Barrette/Mecum.
"She looks very intelligent". Referring to the model standing next to the car.
Refreshed = power washed engine bay and added new pine tree air freshener.

Rare Shelby Mustang=beat up Mustang with aftermarket Shelby hood and side scoop and misspelled CS signature on dash. ::)

LMAO ! We call these COOKIE cars, once you touch them they crumble
Never restored, only one paint job in original color......
The engine is as smooth as 40 year old Bruichladdich....
'Easy restoration'.
This car is so fast, it bends time (if dropped from an airplane)
All original, fully restored one owner vehicle.....
I was offered a new one recently on an incomplete restoration: "It's all ready to be put back together, all there in those boxes".
That would be, "some assembly required".
How about,
"todays Shelby prices"
"What is the value of a Shelby today?"
"would you sell your Shelby under market value"
"How much is my car worth?"
"Current values"
"I saw the same car on (favorite auction site) do bla, bla, bla....My car has to be worth that."
My Fave,
You are selling, I tell you "Lots of things are wrong with it." I am selling it, "I kind of like it the way it is."

I am an honest car broker of the highest integrity representing this fantastic investment grade opportunity

LMAO so true
Great solid floors = ridiculously applied amount of undercoat covering up the stop sign used to reinforce bottom
Exceptionally original = we threw dirt on it.
Less than XXXX miles on the odometer = since it seized up the last time or we rolled back the odometer
Stored in a private display for years = sat in the previous owners garage for years
This investment grade quality vehicle offered at this phenomenal price will only appreciate = If you buy it for this price you are already upside down, buy it and your grade is "F" for failure....
"Yes this is the rare model " = nobody liked it when it was new either
"Car has had an older restoration " = Don't know who, what or when this thing was painted. By looks of it tgey used a paint brush.....
" May need a little engine work " = last time it ran was , who knows when but the rods wernt coming out the side of the block
I've heard this a few times lately, phrased like "get your Shelby to Mecum Kissimmee and get $200K+". An acquaintance heard this and now wants to sell his KR. He's rubbing his hands can't wait for January.
Is Mecum really the top place to sell??? :-\

I surely don't know but I do know this:
"The car uses no oil " = oil just oozes out the gaskets and rear main seal
Really don't want to sell but I have no time to complete = parts scattered all over the place and we can't find them, good luck if you buy this p.o.s. !

This is I interpreted as "Just freshly pulled out of a junk yard "
Interior needs work = all seats are gone, no door panels or steering wheel
A few of my faves:
"I will include it if I can find it by the end of the auction." (meaning a part)
"I cannot locate it, but if I do, I will mail it to you." (meaning apart)
"Since you insulted me by asking who did the work on the car, (AKA: history), it is NOT for sale to you." (a call for a car for sale)
Oh so important !
1 of (insert single digit here) = OK, so there were thousands of these made, but this is the only brown mustard duck crap colored, bench seat and radio delete car we have.
Vehicle is a little rough = it's to bad to lie about
One owner vehicle = been for sale before many times but has never sold
What really gets me going is the SHELBY up charge... Anything FORD like Falcon, Maverick Galaxie, Torino, ... Bolts , stickers, air cleaners , radiators you name it , came off of a 196- you add the additional number SHELBY. Anything to inflate the price of a measly POS part that someone is willing to try, and catch someone slipping! Shameful... :-\

Vehicle has engine rebuilt by a renowned professional engine builder = has new spark plugs
This investment quality vehicle has been completely refreshed = power washed engine bay and added new pine tree air freshener.
This investment quality vehicle has complete documentation = some gas and oil change receipts with a reproduction owner's manual included.

Yes, yes, yes the old "Ran when parked"
It ran, but not terribly well, when I parked it behind the barn. In 1996. I haven't driven it in 25 years, but I'm sure it's still fine. Probably.

This exemplary museum quality investment quality vehicle comes with service history = We found a receipt for an oil change and tire patch dated 10 years ago
I think it's time.
This investment quality vehicle shows its original patina = as opposed to new patina?
Vehicles always driven by a mature driver never over speed limit = won't go any faster than 30 MPH
"One just like this just sold on ebay for 200K, I was thinking 225K"
- Comparing a concourse show car to a driver.
^^^^^^^ Thats todays Harsh reality! ;)
This is a two owner car = None of the previous brokers titled it over the last fifty years.
What the word UNDOUBTEDLY means when describing a vehicle = we don't know either, trust us.
When "BELIEVED ORIGINAL" is used describing a vehicle = See "UNDOUBTEDLY"
This vehicle has been meticulously maintained by previous owner = They changed the oil once before listing for sale, never in the five years prior though.
The mileage on the clock is believed to be original = Probably not, but that's what we're saying anyway.
When they say vehicle stored in a private display for years = car was in someone's garage.

No rust- body and fenders missing
May run - but it never has
I think it's time to put this one to bed.
Vehicle has "many new parts" = consistently keeps breaking down
I like the no rust, missing fenders....I looked at a 69 Boss 302 and the guy said it had no rust.
He cut it all out to get it ready do patch up!!!!
Strong runner=moves under its own power(barely)

Then the used car salesman said ;
Factory correct = Every body panel has been replaced at least once but the paint color looks like something from the era.
Then he said...it's a POORSHAA !
Completely gone through = We couldn't find the leak, because it has no oil in it
Exceptionally original = we threw dirt on it.
Less than XXXX miles on the odometer = since it seized up the last time and has not run since then
The vehicle has been refreshed = power washed engine bay and added new pine tree air freshener.

Concourse=not as many repop parts as some cars :-\
Vehicle has low mileage = third time around been to Uranus and back
30 coats of hand rubbed paint......needed that much to cover up the rust and rough spots
Pristine= recently washed.
"Original owner, Im not a flipper"
I actually saw this yesterday on a Ford Escape ad. I checked the VIN, and viola, its an auction car, and he IS flipping it for more than double!
Great investment....... can't depreciate anymore
