This was my first all Mustang car show in 1984. My Grandfather worked at ITT and mentioned there was a show scheduled on the weekend. My parents drove me there and I was besides myself. It was the coolest thing to see all these cars in person, instead of just pictures in a magazine. The photos are not great (from my pocket 110 camera), but are better than nothing.
I thought the painted chin spoiler on the '68 was awesome back then.
:P

Last for 1985 is Dan "in real life" Reiter's '67 or '68 convertible Mustang / Shelby clone.
(I do have some Mustang photos from these shows, if anyone was there with their car.)

Nice pictures. Great personal story.
^^Thanks Dennis
Next up, 1986; This is beautiful black '68 GT350 with saddle interior. There can't be too many of those in that color combo.

1987; Here's that '69 GT350 convertible again.

'67 Acapulco Blue;
Definitely a repaint on an early car with the slant grille and a hint of what appears to be an upper scoop light.
Interesting to see the gold painted from rims and silver rear rims from a '69-70 Shelby.

Thanks again for sharing these pictures. Hope to see more people follow your lead.
That's Mongo's 'vert and my Alcalpulco Blue '69 ht with a Shelby 2-4V Boss 302 motor. These were great shows back when everyone drove their cars!
Great pics !
The early '67 350 was (and still is) mine too and was actually painted Guardsman Blue! An original factory black car #69. I bought it with hubcaps (also incorrect) and was getting a set of Magatars to put back on it.

That's neat! That might have been the first time I saw so many 69'-'70's side by side.
Was your '69 The one and only Boss 302 Shelby or just that it had the Shelby 2-4V intake on a B2 replacement engine?
Who's Mongo? Is that the Vinman?
;D

Martyjac,
Your '67 GT350 was my dream car. It was a match to the Blue metallic #0102 with the "855 ELF" CA plates in the period magazines. I looked for your car at other shows for years, only to never see it again. Thanks for letting us (me) know it was you #0069! Now I've gotta ask, for more pics of it.

Very cool!

Blazing Sadles
Actually, those shows were run by the predecessor of the GSRMC, the old North Jersey Mustang Club. I was show staff back then. And, yes, you do have a pic of the Deceiver. That was a fun car back then.
Many more Shelby's back then than today too. The White 68 350 is Phil's, he had just bought it.
Ahh, way back memories!!
Heh, pretty sure that's me on the ground (not sure if I'm stealing a beer from the cooler or inspecting the undercarriage) behind the blonde (my ex).
Thanks for the trip down memory lane. You might have a pre-restoration pic of the R Code in there somewhere, or my ex's '87 LX 5.0.
:)

Chris, is your R code a White '69 Cougar? (your avatar shows a Mercury 428)
There was a black '87 LX hatch with a sunroof and red stripe in the center molding. That car hooked me, and a few years later I bought and still own my '88 lx convertible.

My R code is a '69 Cougar convertible (w code yellow). The LX was a plain black hatch, no roof, no stripes. Mike D. had a black '85 w/a sunroof & red stripes though.
In '87 or '88, we moved the show to Msgr Owens Park. I think some of your pics are from there.
Good times.
great throwback pictures

It must have been '87 when the show moved to that park. I vaguely remember driving their in my mother's new Camaro with the T-Tops off. I was more worried about where I parked her car to keep it safe than enjoying that show. Sorry, no pictures of either of those two cars you describe. I'll scan and post a few more photos that might be of interest.
a Few more from 86;
This '68 GT was a rare Sunlit Gold, 390, and had a deluxe bench seat. I was thrilled to see it there because...
It was almost identical to my '68 fastback at the time, except mine had very faded paint and was a 302.

for the Cougar fans, an Eliminator with a hood tach.

and finally for the Boss fans; a nice B2

I am sure these all bring back fond memories for you rich.
