Says carbon fiber drive shaft. Is that really what you want with that much power and grip? There's a nice American Muscle video where Steph's drive shaft blows to smithereens on launch at the drag strip.

Too heavy for a track beast for most of us. I wonder if we could put it on a diet and still add a cage and get like 3500 lbs?
I think shaving 700 pounds on a modern car would be quite the undertaking.
There is the guy on the FGT forum doing that to a GT350. Maybe he could tell you how much weight was shaved.

Just over $1M goes to charity, forgot which one.
I have to admit, I admit I like the styling of the 500 much more than the 350. Paint the bumper body color and it will be even better.

Hi Tony,
I think if you went back to the monthly events postings instead of the numerous individual posts you might see less hostility from the other regulars here.
Most of us are not in lucky enough to live in a warmer state such as Florida. (Tomorrow it will be only 4 degrees here in the northeast. Don't rub it in.)
Many of us outside your state also have little interest in the Non-Shelby / non-Ford / Non-Muscle car related gatherings.
A simple monthly specific post such as "January Events" with each additional event added and contained within might be the better approach.
Just a thought...

If you look at the amount comparatively to the rest of the regions, you have to admit it is considerably greater. Again, not trying to provoke, just adding to the discussion.

I can not speak for Ford and their reasons for using 3D printing but I can share my experience using it in the work I do. 3D printing allows for shapes and features that can not be machined using conventional subtractive machining processes. It also allows you to get complicated parts in your hand very rapidly for testing. You can print using so many different materials now days including aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, copper... that the possibilities are limitless. Currently you can go thru post heat treatment processes to get very good material properties but they are not as good as you get from conventional raw material processes. But this technology is progressing at an amazing rate and is very exciting to see it develop.
Thanks Tony (and Corey). I somehow missed that article. Cool stuff.

But no mention of a flux capacitor...
The new GT500 certainly sounds like a state-of-the-art performance super car that will deliver a stunning driving experience, but reading through the description my mind can't help but wonder - what happens when this exotic stuff breaks? And, will they still be popular with car enthusiasts 50 years from now? Feeling more like a dinosaur than ever :-\
Maybe with 0-100-0 times of 10.6 seconds, none of that matters anymore?
The 2020 GT500 versus the 2020 Corvette is going to be a real media attention battle between Ford and GM. Who will get the most and best coverage? 8)
Id be willing the Vette gets the most being a new generation. Either car will make for good reading though.
I keep wondering when all this high HP stuff is going to end like it did in 1973 when insurance companies rates when sky high for any performance car and the car companies followed suit with lopo cars.
yup, bye bye old 427 cobra record...nope, bye bye was when the
bugatti veyron did it in 8.40

But instead of insurance companies (they have figured out how to profit either way) It will be "green" legislators.
And the replacements will be electric ride-sharing pods.

I modify everything I own.
Having said that, I am hard pressed to see what needs to be modified here.
Well, I would wrap the front bumper bar to match the rest of the body color.

agreed with the front bumper treatment, although it's pretty quick why leave it stock if currently you will get aniliated by other vehicles on the street
not the gimmick 0 to 100 to 0, but 1/4 mile times it will be on par

guy looking for a deal, promise to race and not sell....lol
dealers dont care as long as you pay their adm...funny
allegedly this is the first 2020 GT500 off the assembly line
The 1st 2020 SHELBY GT500 rolled across the assembly line today.....its Serial #001 purchased by Craig Jackson at his own auction in Scottsdale Barrett Jackson this year. He asked Ford to paint it 1968 Hornet Green to Match his other 1968 Mustang. Spending $1.3 million has its privileges
another picture of car number one
What's up with the green and reds splotches on the wheels?
I'm not a fan of that look.
Color changing paint for the rims? It is unusual I will grant you that.
I read that those are just the production line wheels. The expensive CF wheels get put on at the last possible moment to avoid damage.
Or they're for festive driving at Christmas time.
The auction green (backs) will put you in the red. Hey, no stripes on no. 1? I would have thought it would have every overpriced option for all the publicity that it will get. 8)

Or add white stripes and use it in Cinco-De-Mayo parades
Not a fan of the color choices
Or stuff it with Leprechauns so your can find the pot of gold to pay for it.
correct

very impressive 10.6 at 133 mph

this enthusiast harvey briggs is not as brash as we are by stating the new gt350s are obsolete. he is very diplomatic, but listen between the lines....he hit the nail right on its head
And now, the video. My thoughts on the Shelby GT500 and why it's greater than the GT350 I love so much. Thanks to Ford for giving me the opportunity to test it.

No sir you truly did not mean that.
You are the same guy who said that he would be glad if the new Shelby Anerican went out of business.
We replied then and today , why would you or anyone want any company especially an American company to close?

As usual, the gotta-have -it now and be the first on the block buyers continue to allow the dealers to do this kind of markup. After production volume increases and cars sit in the showroom for months, prices will stabilize closer to MSRP. 8)
The majority of local Ford dealers in my area with available allocations are at $10K ADM plus sticker. We do have one smaller dealership holding firm at $20K ADM plus sticker for their single 2020 GT500 allocation! At that price they can keep them! I mean I really like the car but I don't need to be the first guy on the block to have one....I'll wait for the inevitable price adjustment to happen.
We have been through this with the Boss 302 Mustangs and the current editions of the GT350/350R when first released as previous examples. Those ADM values quickly disappeared as production continued. Ask the early buyers how they feel about the current resale value now. 8)

Earlier in October, the first produced 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 rolled off the assembly line, and the special edition one-off was sold at an auction for charity at Barrett-Jackson for a whopping $1.1 million USD. The winner of the auction is none other than the man, the myth, the legend Mr. Craig Jackson himself, the chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. Inspired by his own 1968 Shelby EXP500 Prototype, also known as the Green Hornet, the GT500 was painted in a unique shade of electric green not currently available on Ford's catalog. To recreate this color, the automaker combined a Lime Green base coat with a Candy Apple Green outer layer. This will be the one and only GT500 with this color.
