1968 Shelby GT350/500/500KR / Manifold VIN Stamping
November 09, 2018, 08:43:16 PM
What was the date range that they stamped partial VIN's in the intake manifolds of the GT500's? If I remember correctly it was maybe February , March or so.

1968 Shelby GT350/500/500KR / Headlamp door rivet

Can someone refresh my memory on the headlamp door rivet. I have one headlamp door with a rivet through the side of it and the other side does not have it. It was explained on the old board...Thanks!

Has anyone ever seen a vac fitting like this? Its what was existing...

Looks like someone may have broken the top nipple off and just put a screw in the hole....

I have not been able to find the VIN. I have many pictures of it but none of them show the VIN.

Appeals / Still Looking for a Previously Owned GT500
October 05, 2018, 03:05:53 PM
I haven't posted this plea since we got a new upgraded site. :)

Still looking for my high school 1968 GT500. It was in Lake Charles, LA in about 1978. Believe it was sold to someone in Mississippi around that time possibly a little later. Specifics when I last saw it:

Lime Gold
Automatic
Air
Had hubcaps
2 extra gauges in console
Crease in rear quarter on drivers side behind rear wheel opening
Nose had been repainted and a different shade than rest of car. Had original paint at the time
Chrome missing off lower front valence
Holes burned in shock towers for access to grease fittings
Had KR exhaust tips
Had aftermarket transmission cooler
Roar in rear end
Drivers side head had stripped manifold bolt hole. Was drilled and tapped larger.
Had 427 adjustable rocker arms
Had 427 dual point distributor
Had C6OZ-B CJ camshaft
Had electric fuel pump
Passenger side retractor reel cover missing
Did no have original block.

Thanks!

1968 Shelby GT350/500/500KR / Re: Battery Tray
July 28, 2018, 07:13:46 PM
I remembered this thread from earlier this year. One thing I learned on this board many years ago is to never, never throw an original part away. Ran across my original battery tray and compared it to the tray I was going to use which is a service replacement from the mid 80's. They are different. The profiles and very different. Thanks Pete and Bob for once again illustrating why it is important to keep your original parts. I will most likely find a good metal guy and have them make the repairs on the original tray and go with it. It really is not that bad.

Thanks for the schooling on lug nuts! I've never seen those before, learn something new every day.

Inquiring minds want to know why the Ford books show a different part number for lug nuts for 67/68 Shelby's? It shows a S7MS-1012-C for use with the C8AZ-1007-B painted rim.

This is the rim.

Anyone noticed pink sprayed on the inside of the rim or on the backside or both? The one rim I have has a lot of pink sprayed on the back and a pink stripe sprayed on the inside.

Can anyone decode the date on this rim?

Inside the rim:
KELSEY CANADA
D 15 X 6 JJ  5  1  8

Inside rim on rear offset:
F         K2(an unreadable character)
D

By valve stem
K2-7  5    20   E1

Stamping between stud holes

J     5    TC     K2     Ford
                      7

Thanks!
