1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / NOS rotunda mirror find
September 19, 2019, 11:30:59 PM
I was thrashing on eBay about a week ago and came across a NOS Rotunda gt350 mirror which I needed for 6s281, (thanks Cory). The mirror showed up today and it was like opening a time capsule, I felt a bit guilty pulling everything out of the original box after it had been there about 54 years. The mirror is perfect, the small envelope that had the gaskets and screws had never been opened. It came with two base gaskets, one is flat the other has a curve to fit the curve on a mustang door, I had never seen a curved gasket before. One of the most interesting things in the box were the original mounting instructions, there is also a paper template that shows exactly where the mirror should mount on a 65-66 Mustang. I'm sure some of you already know about the mounting location. If anyone would like a copy PM me and I will arrange to get a actual size copy to you, Just cover postage.
Thanks, Karl

6S281 came new with 15 inch Kelsey Hayes silver steel wheels and still has them. According to some ads I've seen it sounds like the first 200 1966 cars came with Goodyear blue dots. What tires would've come new on 281?
Thanks in advance, Karl

SOLD! I purchased this unit on eBay, it was represented as new old stock and I believe that is correct. It did not come with the Ford box.  There is absolutely no wear or polish marks on the drive gear and it has the gray paper points, condenser and points are all new, unused Motorcraft. Please look closely at the pictures and ask questions if you have any. Asking $500, includes shipping in the lower 48, if interested, let's talk. Thank you, Karl

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Correct Radiator cap
June 17, 2019, 11:07:04 AM
 Hello,
Located this radiator cap in some items that I had purchased from a business that was closing up. Is this Correct for a San Jose October 65 built car? Specifically 6s281.
Thanks as always for your wisdom.

The original starter solenoid is long gone from 6S281. I found this FOMOCO solenoid in some items I purchased from a local shop that went out of business. It looks like someone may have lightly wire brushed it and clear-coated it, I think I can correct all that. The material of the body has sort of a brown cast to It.  6S281 was built at San Jose in mid October 65.  I Suspect the 2701966 refers to a 1966 date Which would make it too late for my car.  Thoughts, advice?
Thanks in advance, Karl

Saw this on eBay, thought I would share it with the group. Glad I own mine already, don't know if I could justify buying this one.

Parts For Sale / 2 C6OE-A 1966 iron water pump cores
March 12, 2019, 12:39:46 AM
I have two 1966 C6OE-A iron water pomp cores for sale.  They are both complete and have the stamped cover plates. Neither one has the Hipo style impeller but would be very easy to rebuild as such. Each will require a thorough cleaning but are excellent cores. Both are FOMOCO, one has a cast number of #32 and the other has a #1.
$200.00 each plus actual shipping cost.
Thanks, Karl

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Correct lug nuts
January 06, 2019, 01:11:25 PM
I recently acquired a total of 20 NOS C5ZZ-1012-B Ford service replacement chrome lug nuts. I have what I believe to be several of 6S281's Original Lugnuts used on its Kelsey Hayes steel wheels. The overall Length of the old one is 1 3/8", the service replacement is 1 3/16".  Does anyone have a known original that you could measure for me please?
Thanks, Karl

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Just wondering
December 18, 2018, 04:11:57 PM
Just wondering.  I started thinking about the breakdown of 1966 Shelby  production.  I know thinking too much about these things can be dangerous but what else is a guy to do while he's on a road trip to Lubbock Texas. From what I can tell there were around 1370 non-Hertz GT 350s built in 1966. I know 253 of those were the carryover cars which leaves about 1117 1966 cars produced.  Is it documented how many of those remaining 1966 GT 350s were white? Is it also known the breakdown between automatic transmission and four-speed transmission cars?
Thanks In advance to all the Shelby gurus out there.

I recently found and purchased a original 5A dated air filter base for 6s281. I have never had a chance to look an original base over and it looks really nice almost too nice. Although it came from a reputable seller, I would sure like the opinion of the Shelby gurus out there as it cost a few dollars and I'd like to be positive it is the real deal and correct for 6s281. Here are a few pictures, what say those that know? If anyone needs different pictures please let me know.
Thanks, Karl

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Are these correct?
November 21, 2018, 10:12:02 AM
I recently had an opportunity to inspect 6s27?  It had an original 65 gt350 owners manual, a high performance equipment owners manual and the remains of a 65 mustang owners manual on the glove box. It's about 20 cars after the carry over cars. Possible they could be original to this particular 66?
Thanks, Karl

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Ever seen one?
November 17, 2018, 12:17:54 PM
Inspected a local 66 yesterday and it had this rocker stripe. The owner was sure it was original and meant supercharged, no it's not supercharged.  Personally, I'm not buying any part of it.  Any thoughts out there?
Sorry, the picture is upside down not the car.

Parts For Sale / 5K2 289 hipo heads
October 28, 2018, 10:19:46 PM
SOLD-
For Sale:  Incredibly clean matching pair Of November 2, 1965 289 hipo heads cast with 21 and 20.  Just purchased the August 65 heads I need for 6S281, I only hope they are as nice as these November heads. I want to offer them to members of the SAAC forum before they go on eBay.
I recently took these to Doug Anderson at Automotive machine services in Albuquerque New Mexico, he is the Albuquerque old Ford guru, to have them checked prior to advertising them.  They have been fully disassembled, thoroughly cleaned and magna fluxed. He gave them a 100% clean bill of health.  They have at some point been rebuilt, the valve seats are perfect, the guides are perfect but have been knurled, bronze guides should be installed anyway.  They have never had any port work done and they don't appear to of ever been surfaced. Sale will include both heads the 16 Springs, full set of exhaust and intake valves, keepers and rocker arms.If you would like to see any more pictures or need any specific questions answered please PM me. $2,200. or a best REALISTIC offer, plus actual cost to ship
Thanks, Karl Moser
