1969-1970 Shelby GT350/500 / Re: NOS accelerator cables
January 14, 2021, 04:17:07 PM
No dates on the packaging. These were from a Mach 1 restoration I did in the mid 80's. Is there any distinct marking to help I.D. the versions?

Thank you.

January 14, 2021, 01:34:58 PM
Found two (2) Ford Service accelerator cable in the attic and was wondering the values?

First cable is C9ZZ-9A758-A (69 style with firewall attachment provision)
Second cable is C9ZZ-9A758-E (70 style)

Any insight is appreciated

Found a 1970 red flat hood Boss 302 M2 collectible at Walmart this morning. It appears to be a new Goodyear Series for the "New Polyglas GT" tire.

I had my Branda headers coated by a company in Orlando, FL called Hyperkote. They are still in business under the name Performance Kote. They are a silver ceramic coating.

I've been running the Tony Branda tri-y's for twenty years now. I had them coated after fitting and they still look OK with over 16,000 miles. A local shop made the h-pipe and I used 28" long 2 1/2" Thrush glass packs and side exhaust. The mufflers only last about 6-7 years, as I'm getting ready to install my third set of mufflers. This makes a good exhaust system for someone that intends to drive their car. If running a Lakewood blow-proof bellhousing, must trim the the block plate and bellhousing flanges for header clearance as well as for the lower clutch rod. Make a HD lower adjustable clutch rod out of 1/2" diameter steel and temper the tip, as the clutch pivot location is slightly different than stock and will exert more force on the lower rod. Stock rod will bend especially if using a HD clutch and pressure plate. There is no interference with the tri-y's to the quick steer idler or Pitman arm.

Had enough 1/4" aluminum plate to make six (6) 1 5/8" O.D. Raydot mirror bases with 1/4" diameter hole for mirror attachment. Will need to be shaped to the proper profile depending on the location the mirror is placed on the door. If interested in mirror base blank, PM me or send email to gt350bp@bellsouth.net

I think it looks pretty good from what I can tell from the photos! Might just need to remove a bit of the backer board slightly smaller than the bezel to allow the threads to grab and gain a bit more clearance for the adjusting knob?

Good luck and keep us posted.

Is your bezel on reversed? The Scott Drake repo mirrors have a chrome bezel w/o any ribs and I believe the mirror knob fits into the tapered side of the bezel.

Attached is photo of the bezel on my car. It is a July 23rd 1968 build date. Not sure if there are differences on 1967 to early / late 1968's? Hopefully one of the experts I depend on will advise.

You probably will need to increase the size of the mirror hole in the door panel backer board to allow the bezel to fit better.

Does not look like a correct mirror bezel to me. My bezel is rounded with indentations that I assume are used to help grip and tighten onto the threaded portion in the door. No issues with my mirror operation.

Bought the TMI panels from NPD and I think they look good. Hope the chrome hold up half as well as the originals did!

Just installed a set of TMI deluxe door panels and a NOS driver side arm rest and was very happy with how it turned out.

Two items to be aware when installing are follows:
1.) If you are using new shield, they are slightly larger than originals. Be sure to fit and trim down as required. as they will show at the front of the door
2.) BE SURE to relieve the door panel backer board at the washer head Phillips screws that hold window mechanism. There is one screw on each door
panel that is in direct alignment with the top of the door panel. If the backer board on the door panel is not relieved / ground for clearance, the door
panel will be pushed out about a 1/16". See photos.

Other than that, I'm very happy with the quality of the deluxe door panels.

Concours Talk / Re: Fitting my KR air cleaner/snorkel

Snorkel and air cleaner mock-up installation photos.

Does anyone run the snorkel with headers? Was thinking about a bracket to secure the snorkel from the two front header bolts? Any ideas or suggestions?

Concours Talk / Re: Fitting my KR air cleaner/snorkel
December 13, 2020, 08:59:05 AM
The discussion on KR air cleaner and snorkel made me want to check and restore my parts, as I have been running just the base and top since I bought the car in 1981. (Car is equipped with Hooker Headers, so no heat shield and s-tube are used.) With the snorkel attached to the air cleaner base, the starter delay is about even with the end of the snorkel. Does not fit up inside.

Attached are a few photos of the snorkel and s-tube with dimensions. No three holes or three slots in the s-tube. My car is #04412 with build date of 7/23/68. I'm pretty sure that no reproduction parts were available for the KR snorkel and s-tube back before 1981, so I think they are correct? Still need to blackout paint the base and not sure if the lid gets any blackout? Was figuring to make a ring from light gauge sheet metal or construction paper to act a shield when painting the blackout on the base and lid if it is required. Any advise on proper technique. That would seem like the most logical method the factory would have utilized.
