Good one! I hear that Corona virus tee shirts are being offered incidentally.
I'm not any more concerned about this than the SARS scare. Tragic some idiots are rooting for a market collapse.

This is exactly what this is about
In Oregon they have cancelled the Portland Roadster Show and Portland Swap meet.....along with any event with more than 250 people attending.
I would stay away from many West cost places even without threat of Covid/Flu scares. Anyplace it's okay to hand out needles and defecate in the street I'll stay away from.
Some folks were already here and setting up for the Boise Roadster Show slated to open tomorrow. It was cancelled this afternoon.
Ridiculous.
H1N1, Bird Flu, West Nile Virus, Swine Flu... This particular situation is most unfortunate.
Next 4 stops on the Hotwheels tour have been canceled and in talking to the Mattel representative this could be the end of a good thing. For those who attended the Miami event with their cars, Congratulations this may have been their final tour or not !
Stateside a lot of sporting events are cancelling or postponing. Internationally the FIA has postponed the Bahrain, Vietnam and Austrian Grand Prix's so far, I'd be curious if LeMans even goes off this year.
Now SVRA has cancelled the Road Atlanta Pro-Am, the other scheduled races are still on, for now.

Given the state of Europe right now I would bet it will not be held or at least set back as far as possible
How come Mecum is still going on amid all of this ??

And yet all those who are panicked about being in crowded event venues and planning to avoid them are packing into stores to stock up with supplies in case they are quarantined for weeks. They have no crowd fear of being around strangers as they stand in line to get in, pack the aisles or being close to strangers waiting at check out. But being in an open venue to watch a parade, sporting event or other public activity scares them. 8)
I just got home this morning from JFK. I went straight to Costco at 1030 hrs. The parking lot is full, the check out lines had been divided into three lines. They were lined up from the register to the meat refers all the way in the back of the store. No paper products, no zip lock bags. I had about four things in my cart and decided to pop smoke and exit the area.
+1 you are correct sir !

A lawyer at the firm became a tad upset with me when I suggested that while everyone is hoarding toilet paper, I have decided to hoard printer paper. He wasn't amused. I think my comment was rather innocuous. But hey I'm not looking to win a popularity contest.
Stay safe,
Richard E.
Richard: That's funny!
I thought so. I grabbed a ream of paper and stuck it under my arm and told him I feel safer already. He rolled his eyes and walked away. Some lawyers have no humor. They're oh so serious.
Double Dang ! we have several things in common...

I'd think that any completely outdoor event like a car race would be no more safe or unsafe than going outside and breathing in air.
That air has to come from somewhere. Even if you're in your own backyard. ;D
Humans can be scared little animals sometimes, easily swayed by media, politicians and other fear-mongers. Yet, in many other instances, humans are capable of amazing, heroic, and super-human feats of bravery and selflessness.
I guess which type we each choose to be defines our character.
My hat is eternally off to first-responders, law enforcement, firefighters, EMTs, military, and everyone else who keeps us safe.
As for now, I'll be out enjoying events and hoarding nothing but old car magazines.

As for many it's an unappreciated field of endeavor. Most who are willing to defend are viewed as an anachronism only safe to unleash when they no longer feel safe and can't hide in their safe spaces.

Well, Richard decided to buy a ream of printer paper. I'll hope he doesn't wind up with paper cuts..... :o

Nothing disinfects the air like Sunoco 110 so a racing event should be good to go. Regarding those magazines (for alternative use) don't forget to use a staple remover prior... ouch!
Its like navigating a mine field... You know they are there, you don't know what type, how many, where they are located, and how far the field is. It has been said- They were good until they weren't. :-[ Be safe.
Might be able get a seat at the local sports bar.........if they are open. If not ,I have a '68 that needs some attention. Time to get things done on the car! ;D
Saturday March 14th, 2020: My wife and I just got back from our weekly grocery shopping.
We're safe: all the cat ladies buying two containers of cat litter, buying the 9 roll pack of paper towels, not one or two frozen pizzas, no, six or more! Toiler paper aisle empty. Noticed a bunch of beer and two litre pop going in the carts, Frozen veggies aisle all bought out (like they eat that all the time). Oh, and canned soup. WTF?? Eggs...all sold out.
Check-out lines 20+ deep times 24 checkouts going. Where do these people shop on a normal Saturday? Friday, the parking lot at the local Aldi's was over full too.
If I wanted to be safe I would have been in the Air Force. As for the usual fear-mongering talking heads. At least this wasn't ignored like SARS and H1N1 for six months before any federal declarations were made and over 1000 lives were claimed by it. This will be just like they were. All but a blip on the screen and forgotten about by the end of November. The response was timely and the appropriate actions taken to protect Americans.
Had the Chinese been straight up about this it likely would have been contained. No different than any other major SNAFU. It's covered up until it can't be.
I wish all the best and may you all fair well.
Well said +1
