Title: Color of air cleaner base on 1965 GT350? Black or Gold?
Post by: PerryH on November 14, 2020, 06:55:23 PM
Were the air cleaner bases black or gold?

I have found conflicting info online.  Branda's site says black.  Virginia Mustangs says gold (specifically says to paint a blue part gold for a Shelby).

Some Mustang guys told me their K-code bases were gold.  Everything else gold was removed so maybe those were sprayed black at SA?  I saw a guy today at a show that had worked on some original GT350s and said they were black.

The assembly line photos in Chuck Cantwell's book are black and white, and it's just a tiny stripe that is visible. But, if I had to guess, I'd say they are black in those photos.

Looking for consensus/confirmation.

Thanks!

The expectation in concours judging is a gold base for 1965 GT350.
