Title: Intake bolts painted?
Post by: Shawn on June 10, 2020, 02:40:13 PM
Are the intake manifold bolts painted or natural finish?

Thanks
Shawn

For a little more background. Intake manifold bolts would have been in   place when the engines were painted at the Ford engine plant when the engines had the cast iron intake in place and during the break in procedure. These bolts and washers were reused when the intake manifolds were swapped so they may show wrench marks or damage.

Keep in mind that those bolts were re used and transfered form a painted iron intake over to the aluminum cobra intake so the bolts will not be prestine. They will be mared up from the tolls used to un tighten and tighten them. With all that said you can ether make them nice and pretty perfect or make them historically corrected and marred up . It is up to the owner.  In concours if they are perfect then there is at least a mention and in some cases (like when they look like they have been dipped in plastic) a deduction.

Painted black for 65 and blue for 66.

Black on 66 carryovers - same color as the block.
