Title: Speedo Gear Question
Post by: Bill G on November 27, 2018, 08:27:47 PM

Hey guys, I have a 68' GT350 and I am putting the original top loader back in.  We can't find the original speedo gear.  Wondering what gear came on the car.  Rear gear is 3.89 and am running 15" Goodyears.  Any help would be really appreciated.  Thanks.

I have a Shelby technical letter dated 5/27/68 that lists the correct speedometer gear applications for all the 1968 models. It lists the driven gear for a GT350 4 speed with 3:89 ratio rear as C2DA-17271-H with 20 teeth.

Hey Bill Collins; thank you very much.  And what a fine coincidence.  This particular Shelby is the Acapulco Blue one that you inspected for me in St. Louis at the boat dealership back in 2010.  Still love the car.  We put a 5 speed Tremec in the car back then, but I just didn't like it.  So had David Key rebuild the top loader and are now putting it back in.  Hope all is well with you.
