Also my glass was out of the car when I fit the tach bracket. After the glass was set, I final installed the tach to bracket. I strongely suggest spacers. This allows the tach to snug down thus eliminating quivering of a tach that is not seated well.

Mustang Parts and Restoration has the spacers. Brandt at Virginia Classic Mustangs  has the screws.

With the speaker grill out you can fashion a pick tool with a 90 degree bent tip and go thru the original factory screw holes and pimple the fresh dash pad. Yes lots of anxiety marking my Ford nos dash pad replacement. Beware, the CS tach assy sits very close to the windshield. Radio out is a plus too, allowing space to eyeball the underdash. Then oversize the holes in the pad for the pedestal spacers and a hole for the tach loom.

My original plan was to screw a pair of long screws into the original metal dash holes and cut off the heads  Those screws were to pimple the dash pad. Won't work. Dash pad will not position using that plan.

Brant @ Virginia Classic recommended King of Trim to me for Brite Dip anodizing of my frames. Came out beautiful at about $700 for both sides-4 pieces. https://kingoftrim.com/

Appeals / Re: Troubleshooting Brake Light Help
December 04, 2021, 02:29:07 PM
Most if not all current bulbs are flared at the base and don't seat well in the taillight bucket socket. I had to work my new bulbs at the soldered contact a bit with a file to get the proper fit. Then the push-in was still so damn tough that I cut a 2" piece of heater hose to prevent injury to "pincher fingers" and was then able to lock in the bulbs. Every time I slammed the truck lid I would get a brake light mis-connection, Fixed now.

Looking to piece together a full set of decent orig quarter window trim pieces this winter. Mine are broken out around the rivet holes with sections missing. Some warping is expected and certainly will be considered. Full set would be nice but I will look at any piece individually.

My restoration is complete with only this exception in the way of showing the car in the spring. Until decent repos are on the market I have no choice. I have tried the fiberglass offerings and they are pitiful. Send pics and price. thx

Thanks Ray

I hear you Chad. We wait together. Admittedly I know little about plastics molded or printed.

I do agree all mfg is backed up. Maybe some "limo pull shades" in the interim ;)

+1

The last pieces I need to complete my car.  Mine car will come home without any and will sit this winter til the issue is resolved.

I did not realize Chad was this far in fixing this issue when I mentioned 3D printing as a solution in another thread.

The Bad Glass is in! Blocked sanded 1/4" off each side. Used a 10" block with 180 grit reg adhesive backed, auto body grade paper, and-zero heat generated. Slow and steady, mask and safety glasses. Most say it can't be done with tempered glass. 12 man hrs each side over the course of 6 days-2 guys and $25 worth of paper.

I realize it could explode any day. Not unheard of for tempered glass to fail after a repair. We had nothing to loose, non returnable and I never would have sold the glass. We looked for OEM and even a repo glass to no luck. One vendor would not ship, another would not measure their glass and supply is mostly back ordered. So we just jumped in with caution and a "what do we have to loose attitude".
Don't recommend anyone to do this.  I got lucky...so far. Next guy might not=Ray
