There is no one single car in the Shelby universe that
attracts attention, inspires such awe and captures the visceral energy of Shelby
American as the Cobra Daytona Coupe. For only six cars, their significance is
all out of proportion to their numbers.
Rob Walton brought his Daytona Coupe, CSX2286, to race at Lime Rock and Watkins
Glen in early September of 2001. SAAC member and ace lensman Joe Kunecki was at
Lime Rock and was able to catch Walton and the Coupe in action every time they
went out on the track. And the car was not babied. Walton turned a 1:01 and at
Lime Rock, and that is hauling!
