READY TO RATTLE THOSE BONES AGAIN?
Las Vegas #6 is coming up. We'll be back at the Golden Nugget, in downtown
Las Vegas right on Fremont Street. Last year we didn't hear anyone who was
dissatisfied with this hotel. One complaint we did hear was that after getting
everyone to travel to the fun capital of the world, we didn't allow them enough
time for nightlife. So we've done away with the Saturday night dinner. We'll
combine the guest speakers with the Friday evening cocktail party and let
everyone have Saturday night to prowl the town. The rest of the schedule will be
unchanged from previous years. No sense in tampering with what has proven to
work. If you've been to SAAC Does Vegas you know what to expect. If you haven't,
expect to have some fun.

A two-night minimum stay is required. Saturday arrivals are not allowed unless
they are pre-approved. To receive the Shelby Club Group Rate you must identify
yourself as a Shelby Auto Club member when making your reservation. SAAC's block
of 175 rooms will be held until Jan. 23, 2002. After that you're on your own.

SAAC DOES VEGAS - 6 PRE-REGISTRATION
REGISTRATION FEES ARE PER PERSON/PER DAY. $25 for Friday registration
includes cocktail party and guest speaker program. $25 for Saturday includes
track entry on Saturday. There will not be a Saturday evening program. Entry to
the car show and Shelby American factory tour on Sunday morning is complimentary
but BBQ lunch tickets are available separately.. Everyone who attends SAAC DOES
VEGAS 6 and who is 16 years of age or older must pay the registration fee,
either in advance or in-person when they arrive. There is no charge for children
15 and under.
PRE-REGISTRATION CONFIRMATION. After we receive your pre-registration we will send you an acknowledgement by mail. It will include a confirmation letter, event schedule, directions to the hotel and track, and car show information. Also included will be open track information, in the event that you later decide you would like to participate.
LAS VEGAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY OPEN TRACK spots will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis to pre-registrants who are SAAC national members, driving Ford-powered cars only (exception: Shelby Series 1 cars). If you would like to run your car but are not a member of the national club you will have to join. No exceptions. Open track cost is $100 for each half day (morning or afternoon session). More than one person may drive a car (entry fee is based on the car < not the number of people driving it; additional drivers need not be SAAC members). All drivers must attend the 8:00 a.m. drivers meeting prior to going out on the track and all cars must pass SAAC's safety inspection. This is NOT a competitive event. Please understand that. If you are undecided about running there may be slots available on the morning of the event, and if so they will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis after the driver's meeting. However, we cannot guarantee any will be available by that time so we strongly recommend pre-registration. By pre-registering you will also receive advanced information which will help you to understand how the event will be run and exactly what will be expected of your car when you arrive at tech inspection. You may run your car as hard (or as easy) as you feel comfortable doing. We will run rain or shine; there will be no refunds in the event of less than perfect weather. We will be using the 1.1-mile infield road course. Race gas will not be available at the track, but Tri State Petroleum, 6865 Speedway Blvd. #Q-102 is just down the street from Shelby American and they offer race gas from 96 to 108 octane. They plan on being open Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and on Saturday from 7:00 am to 12:00 noon. SUNDAY CAR SHOW will be held at Shelby American's facility, near the Speedway. Judging will take place at 11 a.m. A committee will choose the winning cars in each of five classes. Awards will be presented expeditiously following selection of the winners... by Carroll Shelby if we can track him down.. REFUND POLICY. REGISTRATION REFUNDS (less a $20 service charge) will be made if we receive written notification of your cancellation prior to February 1st, 2002. Telephone message cancellations cannot be accepted; fax and e-mail cancellations will be. There will be NO OPEN TRACK REFUNDS once all slots have been filled. In the past we have attempted to issue refunds to those who signed up in advance and then, at the last minute, found that they would not be able to participate. In the meantime all slots had been filled and we had to turn people away. In some cases not being able to run meant those people either did not bring their cars or did not attend the event. When slots became available at the last minute due to these eleventh-hour cancellations, those people who had wanted to run were not in a position to do so. The whole situation strikes us as unfair, so we have adopted a strict open track refund policy. No refunds will be made the day of the event or after the event. Credit for future convention open track spots will be issued. SUNDAY LUNCH TICKET REFUNDS will be made prior to February 1st when written notice of cancellation is received. Refunds may not be able to be made after that time as the final number of meals will have been confirmed with the caterer.
